creativity

I've never considered myself a super creative person.  Like at all. I know how to do a few crafty things (OK, one crafty thing. Crochet.), but I don't know if I'd consider that creative.  Basically all it means is, I can read a pattern and loop yarn around itself. I can also pick out coordinating colors. Go me.

Until recently, I always considered myself a copy-cat-creative.  I'd see someone else's work that I thought was cool and try to replicate it on my own. However, lately...I'm totally feeling the creative juices flow. This baby girl is inspiring me to do all types of homemade crafty things. The nursery design (walls and paint and stuff), decorations for the nursery, and even redecorating my own room!

All that to say, I made another doll this week.  The first one was kind of just to see if I could do it. But this second one. You guys. I love her. And I totally want to make 800 more of her.  I spent an hour or so looking at ideas for faces on Etsy and Pinterest, but ultimately this is my own design.  I designed her face. And I like the way it came out!  

I did use a pattern for her body (found here), but somehow my doll  came out looking not that much like the tutorial doll. There are a few things I would like to change, though, so I think I'm actually going to make my own pattern.

Again.  Designing. Creativity. Me. What?!

I think I'm kinda of obsessed with these little things. They're way easier to make than I would have thought, and they don't take very long at all! Plus, I get to use my sewing machine, which is way fun. And I've been thinking all morning about how I can crochet sweaters or scarves for each doll! And I'm getting way too excited about this!!

I'm going to end up with a billion dolls in my house like the people on TV with the creepy collections. If you have a daughter, you can probably expect one of these for a birthday in the near future.
